An industrial LCD datasheet is a design contract, not a marketing sheet. The 12 specs that decide whether your product survives are: resolution, interface type and pinout, luminance, viewing angle, contrast ratio, touch integration, operating and storage temperature, response time, outline and active area, driver IC, backlight life, and certification scope. Read them together, not in isolation: a 1000-nit panel with a 70°C storage limit may still fail a sealed outdoor enclosure, and a fast response time means nothing if the FPC cannot survive vibration. Always confirm measurement conditions, tolerances, and whether the module or the bare panel is specified.

Commencez par les conditions de mesure, pas par le chiffre d'en-tête

Every credible datasheet states how a value was measured. Luminance is meaningless without the drive current, the number of LEDs, the ambient temperature, and whether the value is typical or minimum. Contrast ratio must state the measurement angle and whether it is dark-room or with ambient light. Viewing angle is usually quoted as the angle where contrast falls to 10:1 or 5:1 — two vendors can quote the same panel differently. Before you compare two modules, align the test conditions. If a datasheet omits them, treat the number as indicative and request the full qualification report. This single habit prevents most integration surprises later in the program.

Resolution, interface, and pinout: the electrical contract

Resolution determines your graphics memory, scaler needs, and pixel clock. Interface choice — RGB, LVDS, MIPI DSI, or eDP — drives connector count, EMI profile, and PCB layer stack. For LVDS, check the differential impedance target (commonly 100 Ω differential, 50 Ω single-ended) and whether internal termination is present. For RGB, verify the pixel clock, setup/hold windows, and whether the timing is DE-only or supports sync modes. Pinout and FPC pitch matter as much as the protocol: a 0.5 mm pitch connector with a long, unsupported tail will fail vibration long before the silicon does. Confirm connector mating cycles and whether the FPC needs stiffener or back-bar reinforcement in your enclosure.

Spécifications optiques : luminance, angle de vision, contraste, temps de réponse

Luminance for industrial modules typically spans roughly 200 to 1500 nits as a general engineering reference; the right target depends on ambient light and whether you use optical bonding or an anti-reflective coating. Viewing angle defines the usable cone — for IPS-class panels it is wide, but check the contrast at the extremes rather than only the nominal figure. Contrast ratio should be read with its measurement angle and light conditions. Response time affects motion clarity and, in some architectures, the minimum frame rate you can drive without visible smear; confirm whether the datasheet quotes rise+fall or grey-to-grey. If your product shows fast-moving data, validate with your actual content, not a test pattern.

Température, stockage et dérating thermique

Operating temperature and storage temperature are different limits, and both matter. A module rated for a wide operating range may still have a narrower storage range, which affects shipping and warehouse conditions. Within the operating range, luminance and response time often derate at the extremes. Ask for the temperature derating curve, not just the endpoint. If your enclosure is sealed and sun-loaded, the internal air temperature can exceed ambient by a significant margin; model that before you select. For cold-start behavior, check the recommended power-up sequence and whether the backlight driver has a soft-start. Abrupt inrush at low temperature stresses both the LED string and the boost converter.

Dessin mécanique : encombrement, zone active et tolérances

The outline drawing is where most integration errors hide. Check the outline dimensions with tolerances, the active area position relative to the mounting holes, and the bezel symmetry. Confirm the connector location and insertion direction — a connector on the wrong edge can force a board respin. Look at the FPC bend radius and the recommended stiffener area. Verify the cover glass or touch stack adds thickness and whether the active area shifts. If you are replacing an existing module, compare the active area center, not just the diagonal. A few tenths of a millimeter of offset can break a bezel design or a touch alignment calibration.

CI pilote, durée de vie du rétroéclairage et périmètre de certification

The driver IC determines your initialization sequence, gamma options, and available interfaces. Check whether the datasheet provides a full power-on sequence with timing minimums, and whether it documents ESD and surge ratings for the interface pins. Backlight life is usually quoted as time to a percentage of initial luminance, often at a specified drive current and temperature; read the conditions. Certification scope is the most misread item: a module may be built in a facility with quality and environmental management systems, while the end product still needs its own system-level approvals. In rail, for example, EN 50155 and IEC 61373 apply to the terminal system, not automatically to a bare module. Confirm what is certified, at what level, and what your integration must add.

Questions fréquemment posées

> <
> <

> <
Does a wide operating temperature rating cover storage and shipping?

These are generic test-method standards cited to explain how each specification is defined and measured. They are not product certifications. The actual test conditions and rated values for each RONEN model are stated in that model's datasheet.
