Mitsubishi TFT LCD EOL: Complete Replacement Guide 2026
Mitsubishi Electric's GOT series has been the default industrial HMI for two decades, but the replacement picture has shifted from "inconvenient" to "unavailable." Three generations are now end-of-life, and the latest GT11 phase is a chip-level stop — not just a panel. This guide maps every affected series to a drop-in RONGEN TFT LCD module with real lead times.
The three-phase EOL timeline
Mitsubishi's obsolescence did not happen at once. Knowing which phase your installed base is in tells you whether you can still buy spares, must re-host software, or replace the whole unit.
Phase 1 — GOT-A900 (discontinued 2009)
- The A900 family left production in 2009 and Mitsubishi's own factory repair service has long since expired.
- The used market is limited to pulled and refurbished units with unknown remaining backlight life.
- Any A900 still in service is past its designed support window — treat as replace-on-failure.
Phase 2 — GT12 series (GT1265 / GT1275, ~2018)
- GT1265 maps to the GT2308 replacement; GT1275 maps to the GT2310.
- These "replacements" are themselves now several years old and tightening in supply.
- Mechanical cut-out and mounting are close, but the display interface and touch controller differ — a bare-panel swap is not enough.
Phase 3 — GT11 series, chip-level EOL (2026)
- The GT11 mainboard depends on the Renesas RA4M1 co-processor and the Toshiba TC358743 video bridge IC.
- Both ICs entered end-of-life in 2026, so even Mitsubishi cannot repair a failed mainboard.
- This is the critical shift: a GT11 does not just lose a panel, it loses its brain.
Chip-level obsolescence risk map
When the controller IC is discontinued, "spare parts" stop meaning anything. The practical question is whether a failure is repairable at component level or forces a full unit swap.
| Component | Status | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Renesas RA4M1 (HMI co-processor) | EOL 2026 | No new stock from the channel; refurb boards only |
| Toshiba TC358743 (video bridge) | EOL 2026 | LVDS / parallel bridging IC unavailable new |
| Backlight (LED, 50000 h L70) | Still available | Dimming is fixable; IC failure is not |
| Touch panel (RTP) | Still available | Resistive sensor can be re-sourced |
Drop-in TFT LCD replacement mapping
RONGEN's RG- series covers the three sizes Mitsubishi GOT users most need. Mechanical fit (cut-out, mounting holes, FPC exit) and optical performance are matched; the host interface is the one item to confirm during migration.
| Mitsubishi model | Size | RONGEN drop-in | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| GT10xx / GT11xx (7" class) | 7" | RG-T070BAHA-01 series | 800×480 or 1024×600, IPS option, up to 1000 cd/m², RGB / LVDS / MIPI — see 7" TFT LCD |
| GT23xx (10.4" class) | 10.1–10.4" | RG-T101BAHA-01 series | 1024×600 / 1280×800, IPS, LVDS / eDP — see 10.1" TFT LCD |
| GOT 12.1" (legacy) | 12.1" | 15.6" RG series or custom | Next standard size up — see 15.6" TFT LCD; 12.1" available on request |
Migration path: GT Designer2 to a standard TFT module
You are not just swapping glass. The HMI logic, tags and screens you built in GT Designer2 need a new host. Two paths work in practice:
- Protocol conversion — Mitsubishi GOT uses RS422 / RS232 on the PLC side. A standard TFT module with a small gateway or controller board presents the same serial interface, so your PLC program does not change.
- Touch technology — moving from resistive (RTP) to capacitive (PCAP) changes the overlay but not the coordinates; we supply PCAP with the same active area and bezel cut-out.
- Optical — keep the same brightness class (500–1000 cd/m²) and you preserve readability in the original environment.
Sourcing strategy and lead time
The single biggest reason to move off Mitsubishi now is availability. A refurbished GT11 board is a 20+ week gamble; a standard RG- module ships in days.
| Option | Lead time | Supply commitment |
|---|---|---|
| Refurbished Mitsubishi GOT | 20+ weeks (if found) | None — buy to survive |
| RONGEN RG- standard module | 7–15 days | 7–15 year lifecycle, PCN notified |
| RONGEN custom / ODM | 4–8 weeks NPI | Locked BOM, long-run supply |
Frequently asked questions
Which Mitsubishi HMI series are now obsolete?
GOT-A900 (discontinued 2009, no factory repair), GT12 (GT1265 to GT2308, GT1275 to GT2310, around 2018), and GT11 (chip-level EOL of the Renesas RA4M1 and Toshiba TC358743 in 2026). If you run a GT11, plan replacement now.
What does chip-level EOL mean for my spare units?
The mainboard controller IC is no longer manufactured. A mainboard failure cannot be repaired with new parts and forces a full unit replacement at roughly 2.3× the cost of a new module, with a 20+ week lead time for a refurbished board.
Can I keep my existing HMI software?
Screens and logic are portable; the host changes. We convert the Mitsubishi serial interface (RS422/RS232) to a standard module and keep your PLC program intact. UI coordinates carry over when moving from resistive (RTP) to capacitive (PCAP) touch.
How fast can RONGEN ship a replacement?
Standard RG- modules ship in 7–15 days. That is the core advantage over a 20+ week refurbished Mitsubishi board, and we back it with a 7–15 year lifecycle commitment and product-change notification.
Do you support long-term supply for automotive or medical?
Yes — we manufacture under IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 (TÜV) and support long-term supply agreements and PCN commitments for automotive and medical programmes.
