CTP (Capacitive Touch Panel) Process for TFT LCD Modules

A modern module is rarely just a panel — it carries a capacitive touch layer, the CTP. The sensor is built, its controller is bonded and programmed, and the whole thing is bonded to a cover lens with optical-clear adhesive and UV-cured. This page covers the CTP sequence and why OCA bonding is the step most sensitive to defects.

Where Quality Is Won

OCA bonding is the danger zone: a bubble or a misalignment shows directly on a touch surface and breaks the optical path. Cover-lens bonding is therefore one of the most cleanliness- and alignment-sensitive steps in the whole build, which is also why it is the step most worth asking a supplier about.

Why a Buyer Should Care

Touch yield and bond cleanliness predict both returns and optical quality. When you qualify a touch module, ask about OCA bonding yield and controller burn coverage.

Matching Standard Panels

Modules with capacitive touch are CTP-built. These sizes are frequent subjects of touch qualification:

Frequently Asked Questions

What is CTP?

CTP is the capacitive touch panel: a sensor layer whose controller is bonded and programmed, then bonded to a cover lens with optical-clear adhesive (OCA) and UV-cured. It is the touch half of a modern module.

Why is OCA bonding hard?

OCA must be applied without bubbles or misalignment, because any defect shows on a touch surface and weakens the optical path. Cover-lens OCA bonding is one of the steps most sensitive to cleanliness and alignment.

What does controller burning do?

The touch controller is programmed with its configuration and calibration so the panel reports coordinates correctly. A wrong or absent burn means a dead or drifting touch surface.
