Reliability Testing for Industrial TFT LCD Modules
A display that passes on the bench and dies in month two is worse than no display. Industrial and medical programmes run for years, often in vibration, humidity, temperature swing and static-heavy environments, so the reliability work is what separates a component from a trusted part. RONEN DISPLAY runs standard reliability verification on its modules and makes the records available to qualified projects. This hub collects the individual tests — salt-spray, drop-impact, ESD, vibration and temperature cycling — and links to each.
The Five Checks That Decide Field Life
| Test | What it catches | Typical environment |
|---|---|---|
| Salt spray & humidity | Corrosion of FPC, connector and frame | Marine, coastal, outdoor |
| Drop & impact | Mechanical shock, housing integrity | Handheld, portable, field |
| ESD immunity | Latch-up, interface damage | Dry, static-prone benches |
| Vibration | Solder fatigue, connector loosening | Vehicle, rail, machinery |
| Temperature cycling | Glass/bond stress, parameter drift | Outdoor, automotive, uncontrolled |
Design Qualification vs Per-Lot Verification
There are two distinct records. A design-qualification report proves the module type survives the test plan; per-lot verification confirms the specific build that ships matches that qualified design. Both are available on request — and the per-lot record is what lets a procurement engineer close an audit without re-running the whole plan.
Specify the Environment, Not Just the Spec
The useful question is not 'is it tested' but 'is it tested for my environment.' Tell us the operating and storage temperature range, whether it sees vibration or shock, how close it sits to salt or humidity, and the ESD exposure of the operator and bench, and we will map the applicable tests and acceptance limits to your programme.
Matching Standard Panels
Reliability verification is applied across the catalog. These standard modules are frequent subjects of environmental qualification:
- RG-T050BWSA-02 — 5.0″ 800x480 1000 cd/m² IPS TFT
- RG-T070BAHA-02 — 7.0″ 1024x600 1000 cd/m² IPS TFT
- RG-T185BFHWA-02 — 18.5″ 1920x1080 1500 cd/m² IPS TFT
- RG-T035HLSWA-01 — 3.5″ 320x240 1200 cd/m² IPS TFT

Frequently Asked Questions
What reliability tests does an industrial TFT display need?
At minimum: high-low temperature cycling to catch glass and bond stress, vibration to catch solder and connector fatigue, drop-impact for portable units, ESD immunity on the interface, and salt-spray or humidity for corrosive or marine environments. Which subset applies depends on where the product lives.
Why does temperature cycling matter more than a one-time cold test?
A single cold-soak only proves the panel works once. Cycling between temperature extremes repeatedly stresses the polarizer, bond lines and driver IC solder joints — the failure modes that appear after months in the field, not on the bench.
Are test reports available per lot or only per design?
Both are available on request: a design-qualification report for the module type, and per-lot verification records that confirm the build shipped matches the qualified design.
