Custom Cover Glass & Lens Solutions for TFT Modules
The front surface of a display is where the product meets the user and the environment. A custom cover glass or lens lets you shape the cut-out, choose the thickness and edge treatment, apply anti-glare or anti-reflection coating, and bond it optically to the panel. This page covers what is customisable and why the lens and the touch stack must be specified together.
What Can Be Customised
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Shape & cut-out | Custom outline, holes for buttons or cameras |
| Thickness & edge | CNC cut, chamfer, polish for ruggedness and feel |
| Surface coating | Anti-glare (AG), anti-reflection (AR), or both |
| OCA bonding | Lens bonded to panel, removing the air gap |
Coating and Bonding: the Readability Levers
Anti-glare diffuses reflected light to cut glare; anti-reflection reduces surface reflectance for higher contrast. OCA optical bonding goes further by removing the internal air gap that washes out the image under sunlight — which is why it is the standard choice for outdoor and marine displays. The trade-off between air bonding and optical bonding (cost, repairability, optical gain) is covered in our dedicated guide.
Specify Lens and Touch Together
A thicker or coated lens changes the capacitive touch stack, so the touch controller must be configured for the final lens — not for a bare panel. Bring the lens and the touch into the same specification so the controller burning accounts for the real front surface.
Matching Standard Panels
Cover-glass customisation applies across the catalog. These standard modules are frequent lens subjects:
- RG-T050BWSA-02 — 5.0″ 800x480 1000 cd/m² IPS TFT
- RG-T070BAHA-02 — 7.0″ 1024x600 1000 cd/m² IPS TFT
- RG-T101BAH-01 — 10.1″ 1024x600 TN TFT LCD Module

Frequently Asked Questions
What can be customised on the cover glass?
Shape and cut-out (including cut-outs for buttons or cameras), thickness, edge treatment (CNC, chamfer, polish), and surface coating — anti-glare, anti-reflection, or both, applied to the lens.
Why bond the cover lens to the panel?
OCA optical bonding removes the air gap that causes internal reflection and washout, improving contrast and sunlight readability and also sealing the assembly against dust and moisture. See our air-vs-optical-bonding guide for the trade-off.
Does a custom lens affect touch?
A thicker or coated lens changes the touch stack slightly; the touch controller configuration must be matched to the final lens. Specify the lens together with the touch so the controller burning accounts for it.
