MCU Display Timing Generator

Enter your panel timing (active resolution + porches + sync) and a pixel clock or refresh rate. The tool returns H/V totals, frame rate, required pixel clock, and a copy-ready RGB / LTDC timing configuration snippet for your MCU.

Panel timing

Use the preset to autofill common resolutions, then adjust.

FAQ

Which pixel clock do I need for 60 Hz?

Total pixel clock = (H-active+HFP+HBP+HSW) × (V-active+VFP+VBP+VSW) × refresh rate. For 800×480 with the porch set above that is 928×525×60 ≈ 29.2 MHz; use 33.3 MHz as a standard RGB clock headroom.

Does this cover MIPI DSI?

This tool targets parallel RGB / LVDS timing fed to an MCU LCD controller (e.g. STM32 LTDC, NXP eLCDIF). MIPI DSI needs lane/DPHY planning — see the PCLK & Bandwidth tool for that.

When do I need an MCU timing generator?

Use it when you are wiring a TFT LCD to a microcontroller with a parallel RGB or LVDS interface (STM32 LTDC, NXP eLCDIF, and similar). It produces the porch and timing constants plus a register or code snippet so the panel syncs at your target refresh rate without trial and error.
