The recommendation weighs the classic trade-offs: PCAP wins on multi-touch, optics and durability; resistive wins on gloves, moisture tolerance, EMC immunity and cost.

FAQ

Do capacitive touchscreens work with gloves?

Thin disposable gloves usually work, especially on tunned PCAP controllers with increased sensitivity. Thick work gloves generally do not register reliably — for glove-heavy environments choose resistive or a glove-tuned PCAP and verify on samples.

Which touch technology survives water and rain better?

Resistive is indifferent to water on the surface. Standard PCAP can false-trigger when water bridges electrodes, so outdoor or wash-down PCAP designs need water-rejection firmware or shielding patterns.

Is multi-touch possible on a resistive screen?

No. Resistive sensing reports a single contact point. If your UI needs pinch, zoom or two-finger gestures, projected capacitive is the only practical choice.
